Planning a York photography trip

Planning a York photography trip

The Plan…

There are loads of places to photograph at York, it does present some problems though. One of these is the more scenic areas are usually ram packed with tourists. One place I want to photograph is the Shambles, which was the inspiration for Diagon Alley, in the Harry Potter films. I’m going to be having a scout around the station and also on the city walls, seeing if any interesting shots can be had.

I’ll hang around in York till after dark, the sun sets at 1839hrs, the weather is looking good, which makes a change from the last few days with the constant rain! I want some interesting architectural images as well as possibly some street photography images. If I can I want to steer away from the main tourist attractions such as the Minster etc.

The Kit…

I’ll be taking my D800 body with two lenses, my 70-300mm and the 24-80mm. I’ll also be taking a range of ND filters, including the 10 stop ND for some long exposure shots. If the footfall in the Shambles is moving enough, I can deal with that by means of a long exposure and the 10 stop. Obviously the tripod will be needed so that’s getting strapped to my camera bag.

Coming Soon…

Once I get home on Wednesday evening, I’ll be going through the images from York, if I have any keepers I’ll be putting them up on the shop section of this site.
