This photo is of the Pelican Nebula. I created this photo using my astrophotography kit, which comprises of a William Optics Redcat 61 WIFD telescope, a ZWO ASI585 MC Air astro camera and a Sky Watcher EQ AL55I Pro equatorial mount. The final image shown here is comprised of 60 x 2 minute exposures, stacked and edited in Pixinsight.
The Pelican Nebula (IC 5070/IC 5067) is an emission nebula in the Cygnus constellation, located in the Milky Way galaxy about 1,800 to 4,000 light-years away, depending on the source. It is named for its resemblance to a pelican and is a region of active star formation, featuring young stars heating surrounding gas and dust. The nebula is often seen adjacent to the North America Nebula, separated by a dark dust lane.
